  We were very happy to have found Jason for our children’s piano lessons. We had several teachers before finally being lucky enough to find Jason. He has a great way with the kids, making piano interesting and engaging. With his enthusiastic and warm style, he has been able to teach the kids the practical and theoretical basis of piano. During the lessons he is encouraging and supportive yet detail-oriented, ensuring the kids work on their pieces to perfection. He gives them tasks to work on each week which is communicated by emails to the parents right after the lessons. This is very helpful as it lets me know where the kids are in their progress as well as what they are to work on. In addition to the RCM curriculum, Jason encourages the kids to pick songs they find interesting to work on, pop songs, seasonal songs etc. During the pandemic, he was quick to switch to virtual lessons, which has worked very well. He is at his piano, enabling him to demonstrate handwork, finger positions etc. if needed. He will often videotape parts of the pieces the kids are working and send them for the kids to see when they are practicing. The transition to virtual lessons has been seamless. His methods are so effective, I as an adult even signed up for lessons! We have been extremely happy with Jason and the progress the kids have made.

We are extremely happy with how the lessons have been going and our children’s progress under his teaching techniques. Jason is organized, knowledgeable and talented! His passion for piano is palpable, even through the new Skype/Zoom lessons.

During the pandemic, he didn’t miss a beat! Our lessons transitioned seamlessly and quickly. He communicates with us through email, WhatsApp, Skype and now Zoom. It has been easy, and facilitated everyone’s needs. He quickly send notes after the lesson to advise us what to work on, links to new pieces to consider and what is coming up.

The kids are engaged as they have a say in what they want to work on next, and his friendly knowledgeable demeanour keeps them feeling confident and successful. Even when there is a difficult part in the piece, he provides a few new approaches to keep their momentum going. He is also flexible in his technique with them, again showcasing his knowledge of music.  Our children have each progressed through 2 levels of RCM Curriculum and passing their RCM exams with honours!

Our children's technique has vastly improved under his teaching. We are happy to have found Jason as a teacher and look forward to more continued musical success with Jason.

I’ve been learning piano on and off through out my life. However there were a lot of aspects about truly “playing the piano” that I had missed out on over the years. This included theory, form, and general appreciation for the concepts that make up a great composition. Jason didn’t hesitate to tackle that. We didn’t have to go way back to the beginning and start over (which would have put a damper on the motivation). He assessed my proficiency and filled in the gaps while introducing new concepts. But on top of that, he has made me appreciate the subtleties in a piece that I never appreciated before. He is incredibly patient and motivating to say the least. 

When COVID hit, I thought that was it with lessons. And initially, I didn’t have a great outlook on virtual lessons. But yet again Jason took it upon himself to ensure that the experience was productive and enjoyable. The virtual lessons were just as great as in person. His flexibility on music styles is another great aspect of the experience. He’ll be ready to teach any piece from classical, to jazz, to even pop and hip hop. Overall I can confidently say that within the past few months, I’ve learnt from Jason at a faster rate than with other instructors over years.

I am an 88 year old student of Jason Scozzari, now one year. I had always wanted to play piano but somehow had never had the time nor opportunity to do so. I had been looking for a tutor who was willing to undertake such a daunting chore but didn’t know how to go about finding someone suitable. 

I found Jason’s name by chance and we started out on a keyboard, but I soon found myself so involved and so delighted by my progress that I purchased an upright piano!

Jason is the perfect instructor for me and for any senior citizen who is interested in playing piano. He knows exactly how far to push and is very clear about instructions and suggestions.

Jason is an awesome teacher and an amazing person!

I am an adult student, having nil music knowledge or musical talents but have an interest in learning piano. When I expressed my weakness in music but my desire to play piano, Jason encouraged me to start learning. He is very knowledgeable and consistent in correcting my mistakes in a non-judgemental way without getting frustrated. Now I am doing well and enjoying my playing with Jason's guidance. When I send video recordings of my playing, he diligently gives feedback in between lessons.

Jason has a special gift, not only in music but also with social skills to connect with any age groups from children to mature adults. His passion of teaching piano to all ages is quite exceptional.

As a practicing physician I know that learning a new skill in late middle age to mature adult age is a good challenge to our brain's learning ability and learning piano involves multiple different skills. I have studied with Jason for last 10 months and am enjoying piano immensely with his help!

I am currently a third year McMaster student and Jason has been teaching me piano for the last 3 years. Over this time, Jason has provided me with valuable insight regarding proper technique and practicing skills. He is very skilled at explaining various complicated techniques required for specific pieces and has helped me develop my playing through broadening my understanding of the theory and themes behind the repertoire. While taking lessons from Jason I passed my grade 8 exam, and I am now preparing for my grade 9 performance exam. I plan to continue taking lessons from Jason while I pursue this goal.
