Each lesson is structured to meet the students’ individual goals and accommodate their unique learning style. My students typically fall into one of the following categories:
1) “Self-Motivated Achievers” – Students planning to take piano and theory examinations through the Royal Conservatory of Music, and/or preparing for post-secondary auditions. Lessons will cover repertoire, etudes, technique, sight reading, ear training, performance and music theory. This goal-oriented stream provides a well-rounded musical education and training. Regular practice and commitment are required. I have successfully prepared several students for RCM exams, many of whom achieved First Class Honours.
Students can earn high school credits by completing Royal Conservatory Examinations.
2) “Recreational Learners” – Fun lessons that move at your own pace. Students will have a strong interest in learning the piano and the language of music. Students may already know what type of music they’re interested in learning, or I can offer suggestions to get us started. Repertoire/tunes/songs are the focus, but I will also cover basic theory.
Performance Opportunities
Studio recitals are organized twice a year. I also encourage all interested students to participate in local music festivals.
